Henniez
Personal LBA Branding Internship – Junior Designer
From: Nov 2023
Henniez water, a swiss bottled water company, is part of the Nestlé brand and prides
itself on how they don’t live in the pure Alpine setting where the other competitors
live; they are from the rolling hills and meadows of the verdant Henniez countryside.
The ask from the client was to work on their packaging design system for the
natural water, slightly carbonated and carbonated bottled drinks.
The client wanted an evolution of the current packaging and identity. I was told I must maintain their best visual asset: the iconic logo, which has a rich heritage, high recognition, and is seen as the bridge that connects people and communities.
Context for the design:
– The target consumer, ‘the perfectionist’ would be willing to pay more for quality products and are environmentally conscious with their purchases.
– The consumer is healthy and active, seeking brands that fit within their active lifestyle. – In order to stand out among the local competitors, being ‘Swiss’ is not enough, the design needs to convey what henniez’s expression of Switzerland is – Henniez is born in a land full of vibrant and lively nature.
I began by thinking of ways I could reply to the brief by guiding the purchaser into the rich, green and outdoor oriented world of Henniez, this is when I thought that I should physically create branding as though the consumer could see what the ‘Henniez world’ really looked like.
Although this branding wasn’t successful it allowed me to be creative and trial different design options whilst working with the provided logo. I thought the bright circular backdrop contrasting with the pattern boardered logo looked very bold and could lead to a successful packaging design.

I thought that the drips and leaves refrencing the water type was strong so I knew I would take that idea into the final stages of design. I also wanted to add more to the plastic wrap by adding larger images of the landscapes so integrel to the Henniez brand.
At this point I also started working on a collection of posters planned to be used in a social media campaign across their bussiness accounts.
This packaging design route was sent to the client but not chosen for crowdtesting.
